We had a ton of fun at a local event called the Barnraiser. This event is held annually to support and showcase this year's up and coming entrepreneurs.
It was our first local launch and it went awesome. The support and encouragement we received from the community was amazing.
We also received alot of feedback on our packaging, flavours, website, branding and more.
One thing that we heard a lot was the suggestion that we include nutritional labeling to help people know the sugar and carb count in our mate. At this point, we do not have that labelling ready, however, we will be doing some work to get carb count and sugar content listed on our website in the next few weeks. This we are super pumped about.
We also are going to look into a ginger Yerba mate blend. We heard from quite a few people that they would be interested in a tea like this in order to help with digestive problems and stomach pains. We are going to be working on a ginger blend soon and will be sending out an announcement email when it is ready.
All in all the event was a complete success and we are stoked for our next community event.
All about our name change and rebranding.
New Name, Same Vision
I have always loved mountains and ever since I was little, I have wanted a logo that incorporated them. During the summer as a kid, I was able to attend a summer camp right in the Alberta Rockies. When I was 14 I moved, but thankfully I was able to fly back to attend that camp every summer anyways. Every year, without fail, when I would drive from Calgary in the prairies, into the Alberta mountains, I would cry. I could not hold the excitement, the love, the awe and the wonder inside me. As I grew, my love for mountains grew too.
The feeling that you get from standing on the top of a mountain is like no other. Peaceful and relaxed, but full of energy. Empowered to make a difference and in awe of the beauty of this world, the clarity you feel when being surrounded by untouched nature is life changing.
This is what I want to bring into my business. I want to make others feel peaceful and relaxed, but give them the energy to get up and go. I want to empower my customers to make a difference in the world. I want to motivate others to care for the nature and beauty we see on this earth. I want to give energy and motivation together to show my customers that our products are making a difference and I am excited to begin on this journey and take everyone with me.
In many countries, Yerba Mate is actually prepared with cold water. This is known as Terere.
The main difference between Terere and Yerba Mate Ice Tea, is that the water with ice tea is first prepared hot and then cooled; Terere uses cold water to begin with.
As summer is approaching, learn to make this simple recipe for a cold and refreshing drink all Summer long.
4 Tbsp Loose leaf yerba mate
4 cups water (hot, not boiling)
4 Tbsp sweetener (sugar, honey, agave syrup, maple syrup)
1 lemon or lime, optional
mint leaves, optional
1. Add 4 Tbsp of Loose-leaf Yerba Mate into a tea strainer or a French press along with 4 cups hot water
2. Let sit 8-12 minutes, pour into a glass pitcher and let cool
3. Add preferred sweetener until desired taste is reached.
4. Fill glass with ice and pour Yerba Mate cooled tea in.
5. Flavour with mint, or a squeeze of lemon if so desired.
Keep Mate around for warmth all winter long..
This past week, some of us at Mountain Soul Mate were able to venture out into the mountains in Northern Idaho to hunt for a Christmas Tree!
Our Yerba Mate drinking friends could not be found without their personal gourds in their hands. We had an absolute blast and having mate to warm our hands and throats was a must in this winter weather.
